Tescan is proud to announce that FemtoChisel™ has been recognized with the Microscopy Innovation Award 2026, presented at Microscopy & Microanalysis (M&M) 2026 in Milwaukee, USA. The award honors technologies that deliver meaningful advances to the microscopy community by helping researchers work faster, more efficiently, and in entirely new ways.

The recognition highlights the impact of FemtoChisel, the world's first integrated femtosecond laser solution designed to transform sample preparation workflows. By combining ultrafast femtosecond laser processing with intelligent automation, FemtoChisel dramatically reduces preparation time while preserving the sample quality required for advanced microscopy and materials characterization. The result is faster access to critical insights across applications ranging from semiconductor development and advanced materials research to life sciences and failure analysis.

"Receiving the Microscopy Innovation Award is a tremendous honor and a proud moment for everyone involved in the FemtoChisel journey. Our goal was to develop a solution that addresses a real challenge faced by researchers worldwide: the need for faster, more efficient sample preparation without compromising quality. This recognition validates the dedication, innovation, and collaboration of our teams and motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible."
– Sina Shahbazmohamadi, Head of Technology

While the award recognizes a groundbreaking technology, it is equally a celebration of the people behind it. FemtoChisel is the result of years of collaboration between scientists, engineers, product specialists, and manufacturing teams who worked together to bring a bold vision to life.

Special recognition goes to Pouya Tavousi, Peyman Ahmadi, Nicholas May, and Sina Shahbazmohamadi, who received co-development award letters, along with Hongbin Choi, Matthew Maniscalco, Taghi, Kimberly Carr, and many other colleagues whose contributions were instrumental in designing, certifying, building, and installing the first system.

This achievement underscores Tescan's commitment to developing innovative technologies that help researchers accelerate discovery and solve increasingly complex scientific challenges. As interest in advanced sample preparation solutions continues to grow worldwide, FemtoChisel is establishing a new benchmark for speed, precision, and workflow efficiency.

The Microscopy Innovation Award represents an important milestone, not only for the FemtoChisel team but also for Tescan's broader mission to advance scientific instrumentation and empower the global research community.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this remarkable achievement.
